EQUIP Boot Camp 2 (Day 1)

It’s camp day! The staff for EQUIP Boot Camp has been meeting over the past couple of days to prepare our hearts and minds for the campers, pouring over the study, praying together, making sure things are prepared to run smoothly. We cannot wait to greet parents and campers as they travel to the little valley of Precept Ministries International.

The trees are full and lush, and the soft rain this week has repaired the sports field for another week of camp games. Since it is a Saturday, the campus was quiet this morning as the staff gathered together to worship and break the silence with praise. We are expectant of all that the Lord will do this week in the lives of students, knowing that only He has the power to transform!

During orientation, several of the Precept staff came to teach and encourage us with Scripture. We went back to the gospel, to debunk Christian-ese and look at passages that highlight the concrete truths of all that this good news means to us. We observed that it is the Word of truth (Colossians 1:3-6), the power of God to all who believe, His righteousness revealed, and God’s grace in truth (Romans 1:16-17) to name a few.

Though it may not seem like the first connection to Genesis 1-3, without the gospel we cannot understand creation! David Arthur implored us to remember that “it is a supernatural event to believe in creation by God.” We see this truth in Hebrews 11:3, “By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the Word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.”

Please pray for the hearts of the campers and staff as we silence opinions on creation, and listen to the Word of God. Please pray for unity, and that the Spirit would prevent divisions from arising.

That unity is another reason why the staff gathers before camp to encourage and build each other up. Because when camp starts, and the insecurities and awkward moments happen, our goal is for us to stand in the truth of who we are in Christ and model for the students how to walk well through those moments, whether it’s getting ready for bed or talking at meal times.

Our prayer is for us to live out the truths of 1 Peter 4:10, “As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” We see in our staff (and we know we will see in the campers too!) the Lord’s creativity and variety; and we are so grateful to experience the community of the church.

As we think of all the first-time campers who are coming this year, we are praying and planning to love them, to make them feel welcomed, and safe. For those returning, we are praying for continued vulnerability and openness to what the Lord is doing THIS year. And for all as they travel, that God will bring everyone safely and cast out fears and anxiousness with His perfect love (1 John 4:18).

In Him,
The Transform Team

Thank you so much for the blog and Facebook. I have been to Kay Arthur’s sessions and love her, the grounds and most importantly God’s will being fulfilled. Now my granddaughter, Alex and her friend Jaycee are there for camp 2. They are so excited!! I am excited to see what our Father has for them and all the other campers. Thank you all for listening to the Lord and doing His will. I will be praying for all the students of camp 2 as well as each of you. God bless each one.
