EQUIP Boot Camp 2 (Day 8)

As one of the classroom teachers prayed today, “we cannot even begin to show how grateful we are for what [God] has done this week!”

This afternoon the last few staff and students were huddled on campus while the rain poured fast outside. The wind became so strong that several tree branches came down, and an entire tree fell in the field. Carlotta pointed out that it is a living illustration of standing firm or not when the storms come. We are praising God because we know that He is our foundation, and that He IS our root system. When we abide in Him, by the grace that He provides, we are stable.

Yesterday, David Arthur gave a comprehensive overview on sin and temptation. Everything was framed through the perspective of what God has provided for us:

–Persevering in believing the truth of the gospel

–Vulnerably identifying and confessing sin

–Using the power God provides in the Spirit for fighting sin in our lives

–Living in a constant state of dependence as we walk in obedience

“The gospel gives us so much more than paying a debt or settling the account. God credits our account with wealth upon wealth.” And it is that wealth we have seen through studying Genesis 1-3, through seeing God’s character and worshiping Him.

In the last main session of camp, Carlotta encouraged us that worship is what we give worth to. And we are so encouraged thinking of all the takeaways that students were saying about camp, the worth that they have found in God’s Word and His goodness towards us. “It’s not just knowledge, but WHY it matters: knowing Him.”

With hearts full of affection, we are praying for the students: “we also constantly thank God that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe” (1 Thess 2:13).

P.S. Here is a list of the songs that were sung during Boot Camp 2!

With faith,
