EQUIP Boot Camp 1: PIECE BY PIECE (Day 3)

From our perspective, EQUIP Boot Camp takes place in one of the most beautiful places in the Southeast. Some say that Precept Ministries International is a hidden gem in Chattanooga–we certainly are tucked away down one of the most narrow little roads outside the city. Once you pass through the white gates a welcoming landscape is waiting, well groomed, lush, and peaceful. (You might call it our own quasi-Eden!) So far, we have been blessed with mild weather this week, which is essential for enjoying sports time. It is a great opportunity for relationship and character building as campers work together (in and out of their comfort zones). In the afternoon you can find them on the field playing team sports like Ultimate Frisbee, Soccer, and the very popular Camper vs. Counselor Prison Ball.

We are thrilled that the students appear remarkably engaged with one other and their study of Genesis! Many of the “Question” boards in the classrooms are already full of queries about God and creation from Genesis 1. It can be challenging for counselors and teachers to hold back information from those who are hungry for knowledge, but we know a secret: Discovering God for yourself is more rewarding and affirming to one’s faith. We reassure them that, “It is only Day 3! You have plenty of classroom time to dig into the scriptures,” “Write it down,” and “What does the text say?” while always reminding them that God is faithful. He is big enough to handle any and all of our questions. We know that we can draw near to Him in His Word.

  • “The secret (or friendship) of the Lord is for those who fear Him, He will make his covenant known to them.” Psalm 25: 14
  • “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence” 2 Peter 1:3
  • “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.” Psalm 37:5
  • “For whatever was written in former days were written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” Romans 15:4

Even if He doesn’t answer all our questions this week, we are encouraged to know that He is an intentional God; and that is evident in Genesis! He is constantly revealing Himself piece by piece and renewing our lives through the experience of His truth in the Word.

Thank you for your continued prayers! Here are some to offer today:

Pray for health and strength of our counselors, teachers, and campers.

Pray that we would know how to connect and serve them intentionally as the week goes on.

Pray that campers would continue to be open and encouraging with one another as they study, discuss the scriptures, and share their thoughts throughout the day.

Pray the campers will recognize the ways that the heavens declare God’s glory as they look at His creation.
