EQUIP Boot Camp 3: THE TIDES TURN (Day 4)

We don’t want to dramatize how God is working at EQUIP Boot Camp, but when God moves in a powerful way we can’t deny it. Our mission is to establish students in God’s Word. Our desire is that students will build a stable foundation during camp for the times they don’t feel an emotional connection with God. Nevertheless, it is impactful when a heart of worship unites with the Word of Truth in song, causing a ripple effect that carries on throughout the week.

This was our experience last night.

A powerful time of study, founded in solid observation of God’s Word led to a powerful time of prayer and worship after the main session message, “Jesus: God’s Loud and Clear”.

Jeremy Lucarelli talked us through an exposé of God’s messages throughout history. This week, we are mainly studying how He speaks through the beauty and majesty of His creation. There were also messages that came through the means of writing on walls, dreams, prophets, even donkeys. But none of these compare to the one, final, loud and clear message: Jesus Himself.

“Long ago God spoke through the prophets but now he has spoken to us by his son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his nature, sustaining all things by his powerful word.” Hebrews 1:1-3

He drove home the point that Jesus didn’t just deliver a message. He was the message.

To conclude our time, we listened to a powerful song about hearing God’s “Hallelujah”. The song said that though Jesus was speaking through his very life, it wasn’t until we saw Him hanging on the cross that we truly heard his message. After the video was finished, in the dark with only one light shining, Jeremy read Scripture and invited students to pray aloud. Timid voices rose to pray in honesty and humility, becoming strong and fervent as more and more joined in. As we worshipped together, the students took total ownership of the moment, assuming postures of confession, repentance, and praise. They didn’t want to stop singing.

“Holy, there is no one like you, there is none beside you, open up my eyes in wonder. Show me who you are and fill me with your heart and lead me in your love to those around me…

I will build my life upon your love, it is a firm foundation. I will put my trust in you alone and I will not be shaken.”

We love when the tide turns. What started out as crickets in the room became a gripping realization of God’s glorious grace and Jesus’ sacrifice. Moments like these often lead to hidden sin being revealed, or the realization that some had been missing Jesus all along. Countenances begin to shift from distant and cold to alive and bright.

As the tide begins to turn at EQUIP Boot Camp 3, please pray with us as we anticipate what God is going to do next!

Looking forward to His Work,

The Transform Team
