EXPECTATIONS
Lodging
On campus at Precept Ministries International.
You’ll be rooming with other interns all summer.
Meals
We’ll provide meals or money for meals all summer ($20 per day),
including weekends.
Hours
A strict summer schedule is impossible to predict. In addition to working Boot Camps, you should be prepared to work and study from 9am-5pm every weekday
as well as a couple of Saturdays, some Sunday-night and Wednesday-night
obligations, and Boot Camps (of course). Night activities could consist of work in local churches and service opportunities.
Boot Camp
The following will be expected of all interns during Boot Camps:
- TEAM LEADER—Responsible for students on team, team discussions, team study, counseling, mentoring, team sports, and kitchen duties.
- ROOM COUNSELOR—Responsible for students in your room, evening devotions, direct room clean-up, make sure rules are followed.
- CLASSROOM TEACER—Interns will co-teach during classroom time at Boot Camp.
- OTHER DUTIES—General running of camp and various activities.
- CAMP STUDY—You MUST have your study completed before you arrive for the Intern Program.
Boot Camp Dates
(including Staff Orientation):
- Camp 1: June 12 - 21, 2011
- Camp 2: June 23 - July 2, 2011
Training
We are working with PMI’s training department to ensure that you get the best training possible so that you will be equipped to go out and teach others how to do inductive study, as well as lead effective small groups, and ultimately reproduce other Precept leaders.
Skills and Knowledge Gained from Training Workshops
- Qualification to lead Precept Upon Precept Studies.
- Effective study skills through the Inductive Study Method.
- The basics needed to start a Bible Study in your own area.
- Instruction on how to lead effective discussions resulting in life application.
- More confidence in leadership ability.
- Ability to lead Old Testament History, Prophecy, and topical studies/discussions.
- Learn how to identify definitions, grammatical structures, verbs to aid in accurate interpretation of Scripture, and investigate mood, voice and tense to shed new light on biblical text by using various study aids.
- Know how to examine biblical texts, grammatically exploring the author’s flow of thought through structuring.
- Through a study on spiritual gifts, interns learn to evaluate and utilize their own spiritual gifts.
