Ryan’s Life Transformed

This morning as I drove into work, I was hit afresh with fond memories of Boot Camp. It’s hard to forget about the life-changing moments and friendships Boot Camp helps create. I can still remember my first Boot Camp. The awkward hellos to your next door bunk-mate, the late night discussions on life and God, the quick and lasting brotherhood that is formed.

During my first Boot Camp, I stayed in the Inn Rooms that sit up on the hill overlooking the main campus building. And I can still remember the four guys that roomed with me: Ben, Ryan, Derek, and Josh. We met as total strangers, but we left as brothers in Christ. God’s Word had bonded us.

We studied the life of Abraham that year. As we walked through that Precept Upon Precept study, I kept seeing things that I had never seen before. I knew about Abraham from church culture, but when I slowed down and read Genesis word for word, I started to see the incredible truths that I could apply to MY life! I walked away with an understanding of grace. (Curious about what all I learned?  Well, get the study and discover for yourself all the riches God’s Word holds!)

I still remember those truths and the memories I made at Boot Camp as I walk the hallways to come to my office. I often wonder what is going on in the lives of every student that has come through our doors. I wonder if they are walking with the Lord. I wonder if they still think about the studies that they did while they go on with their lives. I wonder if they were impacted as much as I was. I absolutely love studying God’s Word and I can only say that because at one point in my life I decided to come to a camp that would forge great friendships and challenge me. But most importantly, Boot Camp helped train me how to read and understand the Bible so I could start the process of being established in it.

Do you think you or someone you love would want to be a part of something like this? Then send them on! I drive down the hill and onto our beautiful campus each day desiring that more and more would come driving through these gates. We have a passion to establish students in the Word of God, just like I was. Please seriously pray about coming or sending someone you love to this life-changing opportunity called Boot Camp, or find out how you can become more involved below:

Students (ages 14-18):

Parents or Adults:

There are so many ways to be a part. Start building your own memories! I am very thankful for the decision that was made in to come to Boot Camp. Now every time I slide into my parking spot, I remember those memories and pray for new memories to be made in this place.  Join me in the mission of establishing people in God’s Word.
