Camp 1, Day 1

Today’s the day! Right now, there are students here from all over the country by car, plane, and church bus. They’re excited and maybe a little scared in some cases. Our staff is prepared as best we know how, prayed up, and rested up. And it’s a good thing, because rest won’t be at the top of the agenda for the next 8 days!

We’re going to do our best to keep you updated on the goings on of camp, but I’ll be the first to admit it can be hard to describe. There are some things that set bootcamp apart though. We are a ministry and a camp that is all about discipleship through the studying of God’s Word. I first got involved in bootcamp in 1999, and in that 13 years of time I’ve found that many of the students who are passionate about their relationship with God, who desire to study the Word, who are serious about their faith, feel like aliens and strangers not just in the world, but sometimes even in their own churches and youth groups.

This is a place where those students can THRIVE. We see these students come together as strangers every year and leave sharing the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. And our hope and prayer is that this time of investment in them will see more than a growth in their intellectual knowledge of the Bible, but will be a part of building on the foundation (Jesus) for a lifetime of making disciples.

We shared the mission and vision of Precept ministries with our staff yesterday.

Mission: To establish people in God’s Word.

Vision: That those who are established in God’s Word would live as exemplary followers of Jesus Christ; studying the Bible inductively, viewing the world biblically, making disciples intentionally, and serving the church faithfully in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Only God can accomplish that vision in this or any other generation. We covet your prayers and are asking the Holy Spirit to fall in power!
