Blessed Are the Peacemakers

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” Matt 5:9, ESV

Sometimes it’s hard to get along with others. Maybe someone hurt you or maybe you hurt them. Maybe the hurt was intentional or maybe it was by accident. No matter the situation it can be plain difficult to keep peace with other people. Sometimes it seems that when there is peace it is only a matter of time until something else comes up and creates a problem, causing a fight or breaking a relationship. Does that mean we should give up and let there be unresolved problems in our relationships with others? Certainly not.

Our Savior is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). He is our example to follow and His dying for us was to restore our relationship with the Father. He gives us peace that surpasses understanding. If we are following in His ways shouldn’t we also be seeking to make peace and restore relationships that are broken? I would say yes.

Make peace because Jesus made peace with God for you (Romans 5:1).

Love because He first loved you (1 John 4:19).

Forgive because you have been forgiven (Colossians 3:13; Ephesians 4:32).

You show the work that Christ has done for you and that you are a son (or daughter) of God when you show love to others. You shine as a light to the world when you act as a peacemaker and you are blessed.
