EQUIP Boot Camp 1: GOD’S DESIGN (Day 5)

We have officially crossed the halfway mark of our first week of EQUIP Boot Camp! We are so thankful for the prayers and support of EQUIP Boot Camp donors, parents, and others who help to make camp happen. Establishing students in God’s Word would not be accomplished without your help!

It is rewarding to see the smiles on campers’ faces as they goof off in the daily camp videos, but behind the laughter there is much they are contemplating in their hearts. This will be especially true today as they study the roles of men and women. There is something for all ages to learn from God’s design of gender. If He is the Creator, then He naturally holds the authority to define His creation.

Another tool to learn about the roles of men and women is cross-references. A cross-reference is another scripture that speaks on the same concept. We look at other scriptures because we know two things: 1) Scripture never contradicts scripture and 2) God rarely gives all of the information or insight at one point and place in time. Cross-referencing is a part of Interpretation, the second step of Inductive Bible Study. Interpretation answers the question, “What does the text mean?” Asking this question causes us to investigate scriptures like Genesis 2:25, “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” You can find cross-references on the roles of men and women in Ephesians 5:22-33 and 1 Corinthians 11:3-12.

Students will be wrestling through questions like, “How can the truths you learned about marriage apply to you today as a young man or woman who is not married?” and “In what ways do you need to change your thinking about men/women and their roles within marriage?”

As we study Genesis we trust in faith that:

“…the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

“so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11

“Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame.” Psalm 25:3

Please be praying for the campers as they relate to one other as young men and women.

Pray for them as they may come across some concepts that are contradictory from their life experience.

Pray for confidence to believe that God is who He says He is and that His Word is the ultimate truth.
