Gabby – Greater than I Imagined

There are just a few more stories from our fantastic 2016 ENGAGE interns! We praise God for what He did in the hearts of all who joined us on the Precept campus this summer. Every year we are in awe of the gifts God gives us through the ENGAGE interns!

Our desire is that these stories:

— encourage faith in the living Christ

— give insight about the ENGAGE Internship

— stir excitement for God’s heart-shaping response when humans seek Him

— show snippets of transformation and life change (that the interns experienced through Scripture and community)

There’s an indescribable sense of sweetness when the Lord not only saves a person, but opens the eyes of their heart to see the depth of what His salvation and love towards them mean. If you haven’t read Gabby’s testimony, you should! She openly shared her story of faith, and how God met her in the midst of her thoughts and experiences.

That’s the most beautiful thing in the world: when God makes sense of us.

What did God do in Gabby’s life this summer? What about when her Grandmother died, and she had to continue with the internship? What about being away from her family, and the man she is now engaged to? How did the Lord meet her needs?

The ENGAGE Internship has been such a blessing. The Lord showed me so much about His sovereignty and grace, which are greater than I had imagined, His goodness in the easy and hard times, and that living in community is necessary even when it’s difficult. This community has definitely grown and encouraged me in many ways! God is faithful to meet me where I am at and will do what He says He is going to do.

Gabby hit on something profound: God is who He says He is. He does not make idle promises, change His mind, or go back on His Word. In His last letter, Paul penned these words:

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6

God has been so good to me this summer to reveal Himself through the people at EQUIP Boot Camp but ultimately through His Word. He has taught me to be prayerful and intentional in my relationships and studies, but all the while trusting the Holy Spirit to do the work. Seeing His power at work in my life has been such an encouragement, and I can’t wait to see how God will continue to use me. After being here this summer, I feel equipped to go home and start putting into action the things He has pressed upon my heart.

It has been such a privilege to see the Lord grow confidence and security in Gabby, both through this past summer and through all the years that we have known her. So often faith is given the impression of a slippery, you-either-have-it-or-you-don’t definition. Yet in Luke 17:5, the apostles cried out to Jesus to “increase their faith.” Look at how the Lord answered them:

And the Lord said, “If you had faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and be planted in the sea’; and it would obey you.”

Some of you may know about this passage, or have heard a sermon expounding it. But there is a simple truth: when the apostles cried out for more faith, the Lord answered saying that faith the size of a 1-2 millimeter seed is enough to do incredible, inhuman things. It’s not the amount of faith, it’s the application of it. We are so proud of Gabby, and praise the Lord for the ways we see her expressing and exercising this faith in the God who can do more than we think or imagine!

Some of the things (that the Lord has impressed on my heart to do) include continuing a Bible Study with girls my own age, discipling a few younger girls I have developed friendships with, and leading a Discover 4 Yourself study with children in my community. The Lord has directed my path to cross with each of these individuals and He has placed them on my heart for a long time. I am excited to see how He will continue to lead us and am trusting that He will keep directing me in the way of His will.

Content in Him,

Gabby & the Transform Team
